1847 B-3 Half Cent, PR66 Brown
Second Restrike

1847 1/2 C Second Restrike PR66 Brown PCGS. CAC. B-3, High R.5. Approximately two dozen of the B-1 Original 1847 half cents survive, the large berries in the wreath diagnostic. The B-2 First Restrike half cents have small berries in the wreath and a doubled T in CENT, and for 1847 only two or three survive. The B-3 Second Restrike half cents, with small berries in the wreath and short die file lines over RIC in AMERICA, are the most plentiful proof half cents of the date, with nearly three dozen known in various grades. Much underlying cherry-red remains with a lovely autumn leaves overlay on each side. Nicely reflective surfaces show no obvious spots on either side. MRB PR63.(Registry values: P3)
