    Description

Elusive 1850 Half Cent PR62 Brown

1850 1/2 C PR62 Brown PCGS. B-1, C-1. Low R.7. Although the original mintage figure of this proof issue is unknown, Walter Breen speculated that only about a dozen specimens survive. Based on population data, which is hardly a scientific survey with the expanding quantity of resubmissions over the past 20 years, Breen's figure may be a trifle low but survivors still total well under 20 pieces. This specimen is quickly recognized as a proof, with broad, squared-off rims and needle sharp definition. Much of the coin's reflectivity is hidden beneath milky violet and olive-gray patina. There is no reportable carbon or obvious mishandling. Population: 3 in 62, 4 finer (3/06). EAC PR60.(Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# 26ZP, PCGS# 1311)

    Weight: 5.44 grams

    Metal: 100% Copper
