    Description

Restrike Proof 1852 Half Cent, B-2 Die Marriage

1852 1/2 C Restrike, Small Berries PR63 Brown PCGS. B-2, R.5. With a doubled T in CENT, this reverse die is the same that the Mint used to produce the original proofs of 1856-1857, as well as the restrike proofs dated 1840 through 1849 Small Date. The otherwise mahogany-brown surfaces exhibit some steel-brown patination over the obverse. There are no areas of noticeable striking incompleteness, and the surfaces are also free of distracting hairlines. There is a shallow planchet void (as struck) in the right obverse field between stars 10 and 11. (NGC ID# 26ZT, Variety PCGS# 1317, Base PCGS# 35402)
