Deeply Mirrored PR63 1854 Half Cent

1854 1/2 C PR63 Brown PCGS. B-2, Low R.6 as a proof. Unlike other dates in the half cent series, there were no restrikes for 1854. All proofs show a diagnostic rust pit on the top of the I in UNITED, as does this piece. Breen estimates that approximately 30 proofs are in collector's hands today. This is a remarkably deeply reflective proof. The surfaces have bright teal colored patina with original red color still seen around the devices and within the recesses of the design. A few contact marks, seen around star 4, account for the grade.(#1323) (Registry values: P4)
