1913 Matte Proof Buffalo Nickel, PR66
Single-Year Type One Design
1913 5C Type One PR66 NGC. The Buffalo nickel design was
introduced in 1913 to much popular acclaim. The matte proof format
proved less popular, however, and only 1,520 proofs were struck.
This Premium Gem exhibits pristine, matte surfaces. LIBERTY and E
PLURIBUS UNUM lack full definition, but otherwise the strike is
sharp. Light toning is present in shades of gold and olive-green,
with subtle hints of rose.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 278R, PCGS# 3988, GSID# 3150)
