Description

1916 Buffalo Nickel, PR66
Lustrous with Vivid Toning

1916 5C JD-1, High R.2, PR66 PCGS. Just 600 proof Buffalo nickels were struck in 1916, the final year of proof coinage for this series until 1936. The issue was the last of three struck with a matte finish, a format which was unpopular to collectors of the day, but has proven highly desirable among modern numismatists. This Superb Gem example displays lovely amber-gray patina with iridescent hues of lavender, ice-blue and emerald. Fully lustrous with a full strike and virtually flawless preservation, eye appeal is exceptional.
