Description

1916 PR 65 PCGS. This piece has a satiny appearance, more like that of a business strike, but that seems to be typical of the later matte proof issues. Unlike a business strike, however, this piece has razor sharp details, an incredible depth of strike, and virtually no surface flaws. Lightly toned on both sides, to a degree that is both attractive and pleasing. In 1916, the demand for matte proof nickels dropped even further; now only 600 proofs were struck.
