Superb Proof 1916 Nickel

1916 PR 67 PCGS. Final year of issue for the matte proof nickels, the 1916 is the key issue in the series with a mintage of only 600 pieces. This is a magnificent example of this seldom-seen date. The surfaces are toned in a manner that suggests many years storage in an old time coin album. Both sides show beautiful, peripheral shades of crimson and golden-rose that fade to sky-blue and rose in the centers. The surfaces appear flawless and carbon-free. One of the finest specimens we have seen. Population: 10 in 67, 2 finer (6/96).
