Description

Superb Satin Finish 1936 Buffalo Nickel

1936 5C Type One--Satin Finish PR67 PCGS. This interesting proofing finish was overlooked by collectors for decades. It is a very interesting variant, quite unlike the previous matte finish and certainly unlike the brilliant coins that were struck later in 1936 and continue to be produced to this day. As such, it should garner more respect and interest from collectors than it does, which, of course, makes a piece such as this seem undervalued at present price levels. This is a lovely, well preserved coin whose bright, satiny surfaces are surrounded by golden-rose and lilac toning of unquestionable originality. Housed in a first-generation PCGS holder. Population: 158 in 67, 20 finer (1/03).
From the Bay Area Collection. (NGC ID# 278X, PCGS# 3994)

    Weight: 5.00 grams
