Description

Subtly Toned 1937 Buffalo Nickel, PR67+

1937 5C PR67+ PCGS. CAC. The 1937 is the second and final year of issue for the later-date proof Buffalo nickels. This is year most often chosen for type purposes as the entire mintage was of the brilliant variety, whereas the 1936 is divided between Satin and Brilliant Finishes. The fields on this piece show the usual deep reflectivity and each side has a light accent of pale rose and lilac iridescence. The + designation suggests what in-person inspection confirms: The surfaces are carbon-free and essentially perfect. To date (8/10) only two other PR67+ coins have been certified by PCGS.(Registry values: N1793)
