Very Rare Choice Proof V-12 1829 Half Dime

1829 H10C PR64 NGC. V-12, LM-13, R.7 as a proof. NGC has certified 10 proof 1829 half dimes, none with an indication of Valentine number. A perusal of past auction appearances lists proof V-2, V-3, and V-7 examples in NGC and PCGS holders. No other proof V-12 examples were found. The present piece is identifiable by a backward S lintmark in front of the cap, and a second lintmark is adjacent to the lowest leaf pair. It was described as possibly unique as a V-12 proof in two different auctions, Heritage 8/96 and Bowers and Merena 8/99. Fully struck and nicely mirrored with light to medium aqua-blue and rose toning. Census: 6 in 64, 2 finer (10/06).
