Description

Magnificent 1829 V-3 Proof Half Dime

1829 PR 64 NGC. V-3. Of the seven die pairings known to have coined proofs of this first year Bust half dime, the V-2 and V-3 varieties constitute the majority of known specimens. The highly reflective fields and razor sharp detail on this piece make it instantly recognizable as a proof "across the room." The obverse is partially outlined in a crescent of russet and rose iridescence, while similar toning completely encircles the reverse and adds a flashy peacock-blue color. An impressive proof specimen in a series where proofs are quite uncommon. Population: 6 in 64, 1 finer (10/98).
