    Description

Originally Toned Proof 1836 Half Cent

1836 1/2 C PR62 Brown NGC. B-1 Original, Large Berries, Low R.6. Having filled its vaults with coins from previous years, the Philadelphia Mint refrained from producing business strike Half Cents in 1836. The facility did, however, strike an unknown, although presumably limited number of proofs this year. The reflective fields display deep golden-brown, mauve, and steel-blue colors when they are tilted beneath a light. An exquisitely struck specimen with attractive surfaces and only the faintest hairlines in the fields.(#1207) (Registry values: P3) (NGC ID# 223B, PCGS# 1207)
