    1836 Half Cent, PR66 Brown
    Second Restrike, B-2

1836 1/2 C First Restrike, PR66 Brown NGC. B-1a, Low R.6. According to Breen, these elusive restrikes were produced from the original dies and can be differentiated from the originals by stronger detail at the rims and by a slight bulging from the obverse die. About 20 specimens are believed to exist, although several of these are permanently impounded in museums. While receiving a Brown color designation, this beautifully preserved, well-mirrored specimen maintains a generous amount of cherry-red color in the protected areas of the obverse. Our EAC grade PR62. Census: 3 in 66 Brown, 0 finer (12/13).
Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 5044.
