Description

1972-S Silver Eisenhower Dollar
Impressive Detachment Error
PR65 Deep Cameo

1972-S $1 Silver Eisenhower Dollar -- Detachment Error -- PR64 to PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. Coin #1, PR65 Deep Cameo, is the primary coin. Coin #2, PR64 Deep Cameo, is the detached half-layer of the reverse. On the present specimen, a portion of the thin silver outer layer detached after striking, perhaps due to gas trapped between layers of the coinage strip. The obverse has a normal appearance, but the reverse displays the green-gold and rose copper core between 2:30 and 8:30. The detached reverse layer fragment is thin enough to display an incused and reversed image of the reverse. It has a nearly straight edge and is housed in a separate PCGS holder.
