Description

1856 Flying Eagle Cent, PR58
Popular Snow-9 Variety

1856 1C PR58 NGC. Snow-9. Snow-9 is a well made die variety struck in proof format circa-1859. Many diagnostics are present, including the vertical die crack below the beak, the diagonal die line through the U in UNITED, the horizontal die line in the wing near the I in UNITED, and the small spike from the left wreath stem. The reverse center dot is below the upper left serif of the N in ONE.

An attractive olive-green and tan-brown specimen. High point wear is imperceptible, though the open fields are slightly subdued and occasional minor marks confirm limited non-numismatic handling. No carbon is readily evident. An opportunity to acquire the first, rarest, and lowest mintage small cent date.
