Select Proof 1856 Flying Eagle Cent
1856 1C PR63 PCGS. Snow-9. A fully struck Select proof of this famous numismatic rarity. Copper-red and olive-gold compete for territory across both sides. A few tiny rose-red freckles are on the outline of the eagle, with another at 2:30 on the reverse. These will provide identifiers for any future market appearances, in addition to a faint cluster of hair-thin marks beneath the 6 in the date. The 1856 is not only the first small cent date, it is also remains the rarest. Technically a pattern (Judd-180), but collected since its issue as a full-fledged key of the Flying Eagle series.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 227A, PCGS# 2037, GSID# 15311)
