Colorful Choice Proof 1856 Flying Eagle Cent
1856 1C PR64 PCGS. Snow-9. Rich orange, navy-blue, and ruby-red emblazon this penetratingly struck and unabraded Choice proof. The obverse is satiny, while the reverse field is reflective. A high quality example of the rarest small cent date. For more than a century, collectors pursued the famous 1856 Flying Eagle cent whether it originated as a proof or business strike. In recent decades, numismatists have favored the commercial strikes, even though a strike doubled Snow-3 with softly brought up devices has substantially less eye appeal than a fully struck Snow-9 with clean and moderately reflective fields.
