Description

1856 Snow-3 Flying Eagle Cent, PR65
Sharp High-End Example

1856 1C Snow-3 PR65 PCGS. CAC. Eagle Eye Photo Seal. Snow-3 is one of the more plentiful 1856 Flying Eagle cent varieties, although it is seen far less often than the typical Snow-9. Rick Snow estimates a coinage of 700 pieces, most of which survive, but few in high grade. Snow-3 is believed to be the original coinage that was distributed to members of Congress for the passage of the legislation creating the small cent.

This Gem CAC example boasts excellent sharpness and satiny surfaces, with no bothersome abrasions or spots. Few finer examples are known. Population: 52 in 65 (3 in 65+), 5 finer. CAC: 28 in 65, 4 finer (1/25).
