Description

1951 Franklin Half Dollar, PR66 Deep Cameo

1951 50C PR66 Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. Only 57,500 proof Franklin half dollars were struck in 1951, and perhaps only 2%-3% of these have Cameo contrast. Examples in Premium Gem condition with Deep Cameo contrast are quite rare. Currently, PCGS has certified only 13 coins in PR66 Deep Cameo, with a single specimen finer, while NGC has graded 10 examples at this exalted level, with four finer (8/10).
The present coin is a magnificent Premium gem, with breathtaking field-device contrast. The mirrors are infinitely deep, and the frosty devices display pinpoint definition. The eye appeal of this piece is fantastic.
