Description

1860 Gold Dollar, PR63
Fewer Than 50 Pieces Believed Extant

1860 G$1 PR63 PCGS. Mint records indicate that 154 proof gold dollars were struck in 1860, but it is estimated that less than a third survive. This deeply mirrored example shows pinpoint strike definition throughout. A few contact marks account for the grade, and there are a number of small lint marks on the reverse, as always. A planchet flake occurs in the left obverse field just in front of Liberty's neck, helpful for attribution purposes. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 6 in 63, 10 finer (5/18).
