Description

Conditionally Rare 1867 Gold Dollar PR64 Deep Cameo

1867 G$1 PR64 Deep Cameo PCGS. This is a conditionally rare gold dollar, with Deep Cameo contrast. To date (July 2007), just two specimens have been certified with the Deep Cameo designation: one apiece by NGC and PCGS (the NGC coin is graded at PR65). Garrett and Guth (2006) observe that this proof issue is scarcer than those of the previous two years, despite possessing a higher mintage than either of them. Fully struck with absolutely gorgeous sunset-gold toning on the devices, and deep, dark, watery reflectivity in the fields that produces outstanding deep cameo contrast on both sides. A tiny contact mark resides at the tip of Liberty's nose, and a few stray hairlines are seen in the fields. (Registry values: P5)
