Description

1882 Gold Dollar, PR65 Cameo
Well-Contrasted, Rich Orange-Gold Color

1882 G$1 Centered Date, JD-1, R.5, PR65 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Only 125 proofs and 5,000 circulation strikes were issued in 1882 for this popular Type Three gold dollar issue. Two proof varieties exist despite the low mintage. This JD-1 example displays a centered date and the lower loop of the second 8 in the date filled. This is a sharply struck contrasted proof showing LIBERTY fully readable and pinpoint definition throughout both sides. Frosted central motifs sit on glassy-smooth mirrored fields. The orange-gold surfaces are richly lustrous and well-deserving of both the Cameo designation and CAC endorsement. PCGS Population: 5 in 65 Cameo, 5 finer. CAC: 4 in 65, 2 finer (5/25).
