1882 Gold Dollar, PR66 Cameo
Numerically Finest at PCGS
1882 G$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. This lovely Premium Gem Cameo
proof has beautifully mirrored fields showing honey-gold tints,
around lustrous devices with sharp details and frosty texture. The
mintage of 1882 proof gold dollars was halted after just 125 pieces
were struck, and estimates range from 60 to 80 pieces surviving
today. In all grades, PCGS has certified 60 proofs and NGC has
examined 51 pieces. The finest PCGS pieces include four graded
PR66, this coin and one other called PR66 Cameo, and three
certified as PR66 Deep Cameo (2/13).The finest NGC certified
example grades PR68 Ultra Cameo.(Registry values: P2)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25ES, PCGS# 87632, Greysheet# 8185)
