    Description

PCGS 1883 PR 67. Staggering quality in a proof gold coin. This year was the last for a lower mintage proof gold dollar before annual output increased to more than a thousand pieces beginning in 1884. One cannot fail to be impressed by the sheer beauty of this immaculate coin. The fields are deeply reflective and there is just the slightest contrast between the fields and devices. The color overall is a deep orange-gold with a couple of splashes of steely-blue on the reverse. The surfaces appear to be perfect and from a technical standpoint might as well grade MS 70 as MS 67. This is the only PR 67 certified by PCGS according to their February Population Report. (NGC ID# 25ET, PCGS# 7633)

    Weight: 1.67 grams

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
