Description
Amazing 1884 Gold Dollar, PR66 Cameo
1884 G$1 PR66 Cameo PCGS. The date is boldly recut, having first been entered at a sharp incline from left to right. The 18 are both visible well below the final position, the second 8 shows no sign of doubling, and the 4 is slightly doubled above. An amazing Premium Gem Cameo proof, this 1884 gold dollar has few peers in its specialized arena. The proof mintage was actually quite high, with a total production of 1,006 coins, but PCGS has only graded seven submissions finer than PR65. A long, thin lint mark crosses the hair into the field behind the neck. This specimen is deeply mirrored with exceptional contrast.(Registry values: P1)
