1886 Gold Dollar, PR65
In a Green Label Holder
1886 G$1 PR65 PCGS. The large mintage of 1886 proof gold
dollars is deceiving, since the number of surviving proofs is
surprisingly low for such a large production. A total of 1,016
proofs were struck in addition to 5,000 circulation strikes. This
Gem proof is vibrant and colorful, with variegated lilac, rose, and
peach-gold toning throughout its mirrored fields. Light frost
covers the similarly toned, sharply struck motifs. Housed in a
previous generation green label holder. Population: 15 in 65, 9
