Description
Lively 1886 Gold Dollar, PR66 Cameo
1886 G$1 PR66 Cameo NGC. As one of the later proof gold dollar issues with a four-figure mintage, the 1886 makes an "excellent type coin," per Garrett and Guth. While Select and even Choice specimens trade hands with some regularity, the frequency of appearances for Premium Gems is substantially smaller. This strongly contrasted yellow-orange survivor offers powerful mirrors with a strong aura of originality. The surfaces are carefully preserved, and the portrait shows pleasing, if mild frost. A noteworthy candidate for the condition-conscious type collector. Census: 20 in 66 Cameo, 3 finer (6/08).(Registry values: P1)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25EW, PCGS# 87636, GSID# 8197)
