    Description

    1888 Gold Dollar, PR64 Cameo
    Well-Produced, Excellent for Type Purposes

1888 G$1 PR64 Cameo PCGS. CAC. Even though there was a substantial mintage of proof gold dollars of 1,079 pieces, a high percentage of survivors show mint frost over the devices, such as this piece. This indicates these proofs were well-made and good planchet stock was used. This is a nicely frosted and contrasted example with the expected orange-peel texture. A few contact marks and spots of haziness account for the PR64 grade. Population: 12 in 64 (2 in 64+) Cameo, 25 finer (10/18).
    From The Wildwood Collection. (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 25EY, PCGS# 87638)

    Weight: 1.70 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
