    Splendid 1889 Gold Dollar PR66

    1889 G$1 PR66 PCGS. A shimmering, solid Gem representative with appealing lemon-yellow accents. Die file marks behind the portrait are indicative of proof strikings. While the mintage of proof 1889 Gold Dollars is larger than any other gold coin struck prior to 1933, only a small fraction of the 1,779 pieces struck are extant and many of those fall several points shy of this lovely specimen. Population: 11 in 66, 2 finer (1/05).(#7639) (Registry values: P1) (NGC ID# 25EZ, PCGS# 7639)
