Description

1841 B-1 Original Half Cent, PR64 Brown
Cracked Obverse Die

1841 1/2 C Original, B-1, R.5, PR64 Brown PCGS. The obverse die is cracked from the border over star 2 through stars 3, 4, 5, and 6, to the border of star 7. This die crack is seen on all known examples of this Large Berries variety. This lovely Choice proof is boldly defined with impressive eye appeal created through turquoise and sky-blue toning that accompanies splashes of mint red on the obverse. Among the proof-only half cent issues, the 1841 Original is frequently encountered and ranks among the highest population issues from 1840 through 1849. It is an excellent candidate for a proof type collection. Population: 11 in 64 Brown, 14 finer in all color designations (8/25).(Registry values: P2)
