Rare First Restrike, B-2
1844 1/2 C First Restrike PR64 Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. B-2,
R.7. Ex: Norweb. 82.5 grains. The Richard T. Coleman, Jr.
census in the November 2003 Pennywise lists only six
specimens for this rare variety of the proof-only 1844. First
restrikes have small berries on the wreath, and exhibit doubling on
the upright of the T in CENT. This well-pedigreed specimen is
sharply struck. The obverse is predominantly orange-gold, with
scattered flecks and high point gray patina. The reverse is rich
powder-blue and brick-red. A narrow vertical mark below star 4
