Description

1844 Original Proof Half-Cent

1844 Original PR 63 Red and Brown PCGS. One of just 16 or so proofs struck and distinguished from most prooflike business strikes by a lack of die clashing. The surfaces are razor sharp in their detail and the fields show abundant copper-red and muted-brown patination with lovely blue accents at the margins. This is the only example thus far certified by PCGS (10/96). Exceedingly rare.
