1845 1/2 C First Restrike, B-2, High R.7, PR65 Red and Brown NGC. CAC. Ex: Norweb. 81.6 grains. Abe Kosoff acquired this coin as part of a group lot of large cents from the Palace Collection in 1954. Several were sold by Kosoff to Emery May Norweb, and at least three coins from the Farouk lot went to Donald G. Partrick via the first Norweb sale. 1845 half cents were struck only in proof format. Originals (B-1) have large berries on the wreath. Restrikes have small berries, and are divided into First Restrikes (B-2) with a doubled T in CENT, and Second Restrikes (B-3) with die spurs from the dentils near RICA. This Gem has light olive and brown toning with splashes of faded mint red. Our EAC grade PR62.
