First Restrike, PR65 Red and Brown

1849 1/2 C First Restrike, B-2, PR65 Red and Brown PCGS. Only Original and First Restrike variants are known for the 1849 Small Date half cents, with about 20 of the former and nearly 30 of the latter thought to exist today. There is no detailed Condition Census of these proofs, although half cent collector Richard T. Coleman published provenance notes just over a decade ago. This lovely Gem is an impressive piece that has virtually full mint red color, subdued only by a trace of bluish-brown color on each side. Our EAC grade PR64. Population: 1 in 65 Red and Brown, 1 finer (3/20).(Registry values: P3)
