B-2, First Restrike

1849 1/2 C Restrike PR65 Brown PCGS Secure. CAC. B-2, Low R.6. The small berries and doubled T in CENT are characteristic of first restrike half cents. The small date also distinguishes proofs from the 1849 business issue, which has a large date. This desirable Gem has a full strike save for blending on the 8 in the date. The surfaces appear devoid of carbon or contact. The obverse exhibits caramel-gold, lilac-red, and aquamarine toning. The reverse is mostly olive-green but also has a small area of tan patina before the first S in STATES. Our EAC grade PR60.(Registry values: P3)
