Description
1852 Restrike PR 61 Brown PCGS. First Restrike. Deep brown patina covers each side and there is a dark, charcoal-gray outline of color surrounding the devices with a few specks of carbon on the obverse. A faint glimmer of cherry-red can still be made out in the center of the reverse. Misattributed in 1973 as a Second Restrike, this coin is actually a First Restrike as distinguished by the doubled T in CENT and the lack of die file marks over RICA.
Ex: Westchester Collection (Stack's, 12/73), lot 18.
