1852 First Restrike B-2 Half Cent, PR64 Brown
Important Date; Reverse of 1856

1852 1/2 C Small Berries, Reverse of 1856, First Restrike, B-2, R.4, PR64 Brown NGC. Light-brown surfaces contain significant but soft blue-steel highlights. Abrasions right of the mouth and left of the chin are all that can be seen on either side of this eye-catching near-Gem. This restrike pairs the sole 1852 obverse with the Reverse of 1856, and is by far the most available of the three varieties of 1852 half cent. The Breen-Hanson census records 55 survivors, where Whitman estimates 100-125 are known today.
