Description

1856 B-1 Half Cent, PR64 Brown
Stunning Mahogany Surfaces

1856 1/2 C B-1, R.6, PR64 Brown PCGS. CAC. Dreamy, deep mahogany obverse fields are highlighted by seafoam green on the devices and rim, with a hint of Mint Red in the center. The reverse is dominated by seafoam green. Strike is exquisite and no abrasions of note are present. The scratch by the nose is on the holder, not the coin. This penultimate year of half cent production included some interesting experiments, namely the testing of new compositions such as 88% copper / 12% nickel, which was used for the first small cents.
