    1859 Indian Head Cent, PR65+
    Vivid Coloration

1859 1C PR65+ PCGS. A one-year type featuring the laurel wreath reverse and a pointed bust. This issue is scarce in proof format and always in demand. The current coin displays unmarked surfaces and vivid, iridescent coloration. Hues of yellow, forest-green, and flame orange cover the obverse. The reverse displays fuchsia-pink accents beneath olive-green overtones. A full strike captures sharp detail on the motifs. Although 800 pieces is the reported proof mintage, Richard Snow notes the issue is, "Very rare, as many were unsold and melted." There have been over 450 grading events for 1859 cent proofs, undoubtedly with resubmissions and crossovers. Population: 61 in 65 (2 in 65+), 22 finer (4/14).(Registry values: N2998)
