1859 Indian Cent, PR65 Ultra Cameo
The Only Certified Ultra Cameo Proof
1859 1C PR65 Ultra Cameo NGC. Splashes of orange-gold toning
grace the light tan surfaces of this glittering Gem proof. Both
sides exhibit amazing contrast with bold design definition that is
completely delineated. This is one of the finest, most
eye-appealing examples of the 1859 Indian cent that we have ever
handled. While we have offered several higher numerical grade
proofs, this is the only Ultra Cameo proof 1859 cent we have ever
offered. In fact, it is the only Ultra Cameo proof 1859 cent that
has ever been certified by NGC or PCGS, regardless of grade (5/18).
As the first year of issue, it is in great demand from type and
date collectors, and this piece ranks as one of the most important
Indian cents ever to cross the auction block.Ex: Baltimore Signature (Heritage, 3/2009), lot 212, realized $14,950.
