Description

Deeply Reflective 1860 Copper-Nickel Cent, PR65

1860 1C PR65 NGC. Rounded Bust. When one thinks of a type date for the copper-nickel cent, the 1860 is not the issue that comes to mind. But this is a wonderful coin and could easily serve as a type piece. An estimated 542 proofs were struck from this hub type. The fields are deeply reflective on each side, and the devices have a light bit of frost (but not enough to qualify the coin as a Cameo). Much of the original whitish-tan color is evident on each side with just a hint of reddish patina. A shallow, barely discernable, straight, thread-like strike through is located in the left obverse field. Census: 16 in 65, 12 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N2998)
