Pale Gem Proof 1860 Indian Cent
1860 1C PR65 PCGS. First year of the new design (and the one that would last until 1909), most of the proofs from 1860 appear to be struck only once. This piece displays some softness on the tips of the feathers in the headdress, but certainly not enough to be visually distracting. The fields are deeply mirrored, obviously having been struck from heavily polished dies, and each side has light, even "whitish" surfaces. A few tiny specks of carbon are seen on each side of this impressive proof.(#2253) (Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229A, PCGS# 2253, GSID# 1470)
