    Description

    Well-Preserved PR66 1860 Indian Cent

1860 1C PR66 NGC. Although the reported mintage of the 1860 proof cents is 1,000 pieces, at least 450 were melted, and the issue is not only rare, it was carelessly produced, most examples being struck only once. This piece is better-preserved than most but shows the typical strike. Much luster and considerable contrast radiates from pinkish-gold surfaces. The reverse die is rotated about 15 degrees counterclockwise. Census: 18 in 66, 4 finer (9/11).
