Scarce, High Grade Proof 1860 Copper-Nickel Cent

1860 1C PR66 PCGS. First year of the modified (and final) design, only 542 proofs were struck of the 1860 and it is the second scarcest of the copper-nickel proofs. This is a deeply reflective example that has lovely, light surfaces that show just the slightest overlay of oil-slick iridescence over each side. The only surface flaw that we believe is worthy of note is a small carbon spot to the right of the shield on the upper reverse. Superior overall quality. Population: 4 in 66, 0 finer (10/03).
From the Palm Beach Collection.(#2253) (Registry values: P5, N7840)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229A, PCGS# 2253)

    Weight: 4.67 grams
