    Description

"White" Gem Proof 1860 Copper-Nickel Indian Cent

1860 1C PR65 NGC. Struck from the hub style of 1860-1864 with the rounded bust point. Probably no more than 250 pieces were produced with as few as 50 extant today in all grades. This is a bright, nearly white Gem that shows almost no trace of toning over the primarily nickel surfaces. A few scattered planchet flakes are located in the upper left obverse field and there are a few tiny specks of carbon on each side, these being the only surface distractions over the otherwise pristine surfaces. Population: 11 in 65, 9 finer (4/02).
    From the Alex Highland Collection.

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229A, PCGS# 2253)

    Weight: 4.67 grams

    Metal: 88% Copper, 12% Nickel

The outcome of the auction far exceeded my best hopes and would not likely have been as successful with out your sound advice on where to present the coin and how best to set the reserve. Throughout the process your availability , support and knowledge were exceptional.
