Description

Gem Proof 1861 Indian Cent

1861 1C PR65 NGC. The reflective pumpkin-gold fields appear virtually as made. The strike is exquisite throughout. Despite a mintage of 1,000 pieces, the proof 1861 is rare. Much of the mintage was eventually melted by the Mint due to low sales of proof sets. Census: 19 in 65, 6 finer (11/08).
