    1861 1C PR65 NGC. The 1861 Indian cent is a key date in the proof series, from a low mintage of just 1,000 pieces, minus an estimated 600 proofs that were melted as unsold at year's end. This well-detailed Gem features reflective copper-red surfaces under spotty light brown patina. There are no mentionable surface marks or flaws. Census: 40 in 65, 12 finer (6/12).(Registry values: N2998)
