Description
1862 Indian Cent, PR67 Cameo
Seldom Found With Contrast and High Grade
1862 1C PR67 Cameo NGC. Even though the mintage for proofs
from this year is not substantially higher than that for other
years in the copper-nickel series, the 1862 is significantly more
available. Most likely this is because a hoard of approximately 200
pieces that surfaced many years ago. Few, however, can rival the
sheer visual appeal of this wondrous coin. The fields are nicely,
but not deeply reflective with significant frost over the devices,
giving the coin its cameoed appearance. The obverse has an even,
light red color while the reverse retains much of the original
"whiteness" of the copper-nickel alloy. Census: 4 in 67 Cameo, 1
finer (6/12).(Registry values: P3)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 229C, PCGS# 82259, Greysheet# 1477)
Weight: 4.67 grams
Metal: 88% Copper, 12% Nickel
