    Description

1863 1C PR64 NGC. The 1863 copper-nickel Indian cent mintage was an enormous amount approaching 50 million pieces, although that total seems to have quite overwhelmed Mint resources: Despite 13 denominations being struck in all (one, the 1863 quarter eagle, a great proof-only rarity), except for half dollars and double eagles most of the circulation-strike totals seem very much an afterthought in comparison. The proof 1863 cents are also elusive, an estimated 460 pieces struck. This is a reddish-orange flashy proof, well-struck with lots of luster and eye appeal.(Registry values: N1793)
